Before becoming a deeply involved and devoted father I used to be able to keep more than a few projects on the burners at the same time. Maybe it is just old age or the aggressions of time itself. But I have felt lately like a drowning rat trying to keep my head above water while a gang of little league swingers are wacking me from all sides with wiffle ball bats.</p><p>I have learned to not only pick my battles but more importantly to pick my dreams. I seem to be cursed with having a lot of my dreams come true. What a world! I can't stand to watch the news. The unbearable un justs are just far too many and way to wicked and horrendous. But I am what I am. I reckon my Mom did me a very good thing buying me that clapped out dirt bike from the classifieds adds and re-marring a cattle farmer when I was 10. I've been more than lucky. But still I have conjured up some dreams that ended up coming true only to find myself strapped to a suicide machine. Or just racing motorbikes and not having any fun doing it. It is hard to imagine until you find yourself in the middle of it. Like a gun fight. Or more like a hostage in a gun fight. I can't recall how many times I have shot down offers to ride expense free on a Baja 1000 teams. Or had very good solid job offers in the motorcycle industry that would entail lots of travel. I reckon what I am getting at here is that I like my freedom. I have worked hard to get what I have and I want to keep on doing whatever it is that tickles my fancy. Work hard - play hard, has become a motto ever since I started racing motorbikes 30 years ago. So where the fuck does that put me now. I absolutly refuse to hang up my leathers though thoughts of why I dont creep around more and more like a leaky faucet that you only hear on hot sticky nights when the whiskey and weed were too much and your balls wont stop itching but you know that damn drip drip drip is the same place that provides the quenching salvation your dry tounge needs so desperately while you just toss and turn just trying to sleep. -FTW.-I seemed to have really latched on to the two too many wheel sickness. First the bug, fun but I wanted more power, then the stock car, plenty of power but too damn big and heavy for a motorbike racer. So I set out to build my own little light weight rage cage with a big ol Hayabusa motorbike engine. - The Goldy Locks race car.... mmm just right. At least the shake down runs have me thinking so. This race season will tell. But as I am finishing up the last refinements and picking out the perfect paint livery, along comes a market place ad for a Wells Coyote. The most successful hill climb car in America. Built by a true salt of the earth legend John Wells. It is in rough shape. Perfect. $3500. A fair price. But I don't have that kind of money laying around. I need another race car like JFK needed another hole in the head. But damn if it aint too fucking easy to leave a comment with a few clicks of the keyboard; " I wonder if they'd trade for a motorbike?" Instant message comes back saying I know you build a hell of a bike Newbold, what do you have for sportbikes? Well, I just happen to have a knackered 2000 CBR600F4 in my bone yard that my tow truck driver buddy harvested for me, title and all. Of course I can turn it into a $3500 bike. That is why I was hoarding it with the other 100 bikes in my yard. I end up putting way more elbow grease and a few bucks into it wondering if the deal will ever pan out.... The plan was to hitch a ride with Mom down to Arizona for her craft fair gig and pick up the car with my sketchy old trailer in tow. And damned if it didn't all go down without a hitch. well the trailer popped off the hitch, but just once and that's what safety chains are for. And as far as I know the trailer ramp flopping down for, I don't know how many miles on the interstate did not start any Arizona wild fires. I love my Mom for teaching me how to make it in this world without being another sheep in the flock. But what I am getting at here is why the fuck am I doing all this!? Sure I am stoked to have my dream hill climb car but it needs a shit ton of work and then some. I have my own version of the car that I have spent over a year building from scratch and that is all I really care about at this defined ADHD moment of clarity. I have side projects like the XR650R Baja racer ghost of christmas past that is really all I need to play with here at home in the desert. I have serviced all the chassis, rebuilt the already built forks and recently completed the exciting hybrid CR500 shock bodied rear shock giving it more travel, larger cooling fluid capacity plus high speed compression damping control. Thing is going to be a sick ass mother fucking factory replica Johnny Cambell 5th gear whoop eater! And every day I walk around my lift in the front of my shop hoisting this beautiful Champion framer XS650 with Shell engine covers... And I think what kind of a sick trophy chasing, double ended candle burning, wacked out whisky wanting weirdo would try to do so much with so little. Help me Mister Rogers.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSRAvHy3S2_lji8JIGRQ3RyqxD7_GJKu7BNtyx6EVtjIFQ0z-qJMpucbPcLWGtJafVBu-bD46zGls_wujdNO3aCfXOWqv125H1vWXF1wrn2vAH6pg65MOz-cb-dkP8BXQw847IZPlDzjugTIeIpcUGxw36bOVHM_qCt4SJ98OHdX2gUZMLM0IqKzeCDBM/s734/mr%20rogers.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="734" data-original-width="581" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSRAvHy3S2_lji8JIGRQ3RyqxD7_GJKu7BNtyx6EVtjIFQ0z-qJMpucbPcLWGtJafVBu-bD46zGls_wujdNO3aCfXOWqv125H1vWXF1wrn2vAH6pg65MOz-cb-dkP8BXQw847IZPlDzjugTIeIpcUGxw36bOVHM_qCt4SJ98OHdX2gUZMLM0IqKzeCDBM/s16000/mr%20rogers.jpg" /></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvNie4NCdcLqdbflTK6Vcj2r9VhyIWAC50MaJ1_BVfUve1dFeXu7_FZnmE47b6n9jMdibyHTKviRqt71Djr6Nuabe_-0DoezK32XOy2vei0gq5JkHIGa75HU_Iv7iNe7sbg_LX9gKpwy2rr-rZcQHtRZ0ClBJ6sCCxCBif_eo3xHSHT7t9vxccQGNefgE/s2016/IMG_4733.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvNie4NCdcLqdbflTK6Vcj2r9VhyIWAC50MaJ1_BVfUve1dFeXu7_FZnmE47b6n9jMdibyHTKviRqt71Djr6Nuabe_-0DoezK32XOy2vei0gq5JkHIGa75HU_Iv7iNe7sbg_LX9gKpwy2rr-rZcQHtRZ0ClBJ6sCCxCBif_eo3xHSHT7t9vxccQGNefgE/w480-h640/IMG_4733.jpg" width="480" /></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs_44geybmA2Pbo2XuUWUuAVPQ4n9Ng249b7PoaT3nZ2IxZO4QqVgX1YpmiHkh1g_hi4fBkq6iCZ09tcTI7E-UHccYHFssgbH8vgeq2SxAatWTwH29OlQ95Zl0NAymom14M9SPA4kLEyuUzXBNV3ShPpsvW7HXZikWvp8C_7evY2h4AzT6bvr2PG_rIbM/s2016/IMG_4788.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1512" data-original-width="2016" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs_44geybmA2Pbo2XuUWUuAVPQ4n9Ng249b7PoaT3nZ2IxZO4QqVgX1YpmiHkh1g_hi4fBkq6iCZ09tcTI7E-UHccYHFssgbH8vgeq2SxAatWTwH29OlQ95Zl0NAymom14M9SPA4kLEyuUzXBNV3ShPpsvW7HXZikWvp8C_7evY2h4AzT6bvr2PG_rIbM/w640-h480/IMG_4788.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /></div><br /></div><br /><p></p>747http://www.blogger.com/profile/07625998732258844649noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319620728243255665.post-87820975224481868432024-01-26T21:35:00.000-07:002024-01-26T21:35:56.889-07:00<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I just got home from a family trip to San Fransico. A long trip. A trippy trip without any work shop, tools, or machines. Just my mind, my daughter and wife. The eight days flew by as quick as the past several years. Somehow the speed of the clock is quickening like they all said it would. I try to live in the moment and soak it up. Avoid the ever coming hopes and dreams of tomorrow pleading at my desires like a perfectly delivered sales pitch for all that I can't live without. I cling to what I know to be true; The things I have spent my life putting together. One piece at a time like tinker toys. These vehicles that move me by day between green and checkered flags. Piled up like sacks of grain through the cold months. Heaps of firewood. Stacked as neatly as I possibly can. Crammed together like Tetris blocks with handlebars. Avoiding the hoarder's critical mass. But just barely.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDKVvjmAXWbtIQOxbY63tcKnNFgHTtU5TBB3H_O3dt3MRYl__kfwppDqWtchRMJ095YaJeG9n-rsxdwiFjyYic7v1yUug4DqXX363T6B3H-RIDmi5gjbp01nsBGAn773XyRqA3cEmgLzMlpvK8ZeKNEu8n-O6dEmweqJwZQ-rxaCq7DOeheiq390SniCQ/s2016/IMG_4440.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDKVvjmAXWbtIQOxbY63tcKnNFgHTtU5TBB3H_O3dt3MRYl__kfwppDqWtchRMJ095YaJeG9n-rsxdwiFjyYic7v1yUug4DqXX363T6B3H-RIDmi5gjbp01nsBGAn773XyRqA3cEmgLzMlpvK8ZeKNEu8n-O6dEmweqJwZQ-rxaCq7DOeheiq390SniCQ/s320/IMG_4440.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw_4h5rQPx6cmnWuyjUvH22Ssk8xIqnM0YQ57c64gaLG3JDyzqhkfsxWjUtTwEUmARmN4nqdgKGugEq9ovGTZkTDxdq8YzGrtOuISBYoWhcVzBHfFqALYmqYRQPQJqLEbliDFWuobtQDohpra4X7buV5MClvJsQ5o7_xf06MJPxlaO2J5yyNQRYCM5kbE/s2016/IMG_4462.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw_4h5rQPx6cmnWuyjUvH22Ssk8xIqnM0YQ57c64gaLG3JDyzqhkfsxWjUtTwEUmARmN4nqdgKGugEq9ovGTZkTDxdq8YzGrtOuISBYoWhcVzBHfFqALYmqYRQPQJqLEbliDFWuobtQDohpra4X7buV5MClvJsQ5o7_xf06MJPxlaO2J5yyNQRYCM5kbE/w300-h400/IMG_4462.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBxYPm5X5-nZnBPnYv_apUR14y1S2xzVf3c-2E9P7cfbUI3kSaynahihgtHEdaVYbpazezNffQHmQVR5KqDNsLz7zC0cFgvKB8bkMJDVrnq2K1Nfa3YvkOW3M490UeF82aRkL-rwJd5BDxYTaEvSPyTpAM865g2lX1MUzIpRnebasP6kBKhjxNWxa1ydY/s4032/IMG_4482.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBxYPm5X5-nZnBPnYv_apUR14y1S2xzVf3c-2E9P7cfbUI3kSaynahihgtHEdaVYbpazezNffQHmQVR5KqDNsLz7zC0cFgvKB8bkMJDVrnq2K1Nfa3YvkOW3M490UeF82aRkL-rwJd5BDxYTaEvSPyTpAM865g2lX1MUzIpRnebasP6kBKhjxNWxa1ydY/w640-h480/IMG_4482.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNdvUdaExnDM37nvB_OL67IBGuf8Am6oQ-XytjmyGWGPMjCv_wCfy0SeQrDs9Bw4WXWDZymr1_7oPG4rOeOkx0wXoJwN6Egj1eDZd3jJ-fPwKDgq0ktzRZl8S76DKK3zZEq7gU1bsd9CQ5zW-VCJ_FwWhcUteq4dwZJrojqefsDlROGWVurqTdVSYwuuU/s4032/IMG_4481.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNdvUdaExnDM37nvB_OL67IBGuf8Am6oQ-XytjmyGWGPMjCv_wCfy0SeQrDs9Bw4WXWDZymr1_7oPG4rOeOkx0wXoJwN6Egj1eDZd3jJ-fPwKDgq0ktzRZl8S76DKK3zZEq7gU1bsd9CQ5zW-VCJ_FwWhcUteq4dwZJrojqefsDlROGWVurqTdVSYwuuU/w480-h640/IMG_4481.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /> <p></p>747http://www.blogger.com/profile/07625998732258844649noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319620728243255665.post-52246984465874350252023-12-21T22:11:00.001-07:002023-12-21T22:11:22.812-07:00PIkes Peak International Hillclimb coverage 1993 -(IT'S POP CORN TIME RACE FANS!!)I was ten years old when I first saw what is the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Thank you ESPN. I never thought in a million years that I would go on to race there ten times. Podium 8 times. Win my class twice. Set a record. And finish 2nd overall once. And chief crew for an Isle Of Man racer once. The fact that Colorado Hill Climb has taken such a strong hold on me is on the level of sever addiction/true love. This video is great from start and especially to the end. Was it that things were so much cooler before the information interweb revolution or was it just the seirra club's fucking pavement. All I know is I am so grateful for 9 time motorcycle class winner Chuck Lee for being my mentor. (See his name on the brief list of all the motorcycle heroes in the middle of the video.) I am also still in disbelief that Leonard Vahsholtz's first Pikes Peak car is in my yard. And that his grandson is now kicking ass not only on bikes (he only beat me on time:)) but now on the Peak! And also, that Paul Dallenbach gave me the wing that is on my new race car. (he said it might be a $15K wing, probably from a 1992 Penske Indy car.) Will I ever get to race on America's Moutain again? I built this little car of mine with the dream that I will, but I know it is as much of a far fetched dream if not more than any dream I've ever dared. Even just the CHCA patch on Leonard's race suit makes me so very proud. So does that other fella's mustache. And one time I did a press conference next to Tajima and his giant Japanese smile. Another story for another blog post... enjoy this capture of pure Colorado hill climb action. I like it. <p> This time of year always drags me down a bit. With no racing on the radar in the near future and the consumer bullshit that is christmas. But with a little one around now I reckon it helps me find the joy in making people smile, even if it means lighting up something that is supposed to hold meaning to something that holds no meaning to me philosophically. But when it all comes around to it I reckon it is just really about the end of another year and being thankful for all it was and all that next season will bring. So I string up the lights, decorate the plastic tree, and pour another Kahlua cocktail. Fuck'n A Santa...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGdgWF6hwANsXw_HoSGrFTN_xzVNFYX_STiZ-_jDJBNOn1KK-kU0f3nwjFh-LMEdp-HTpP-8Gwff9eTOQOIMG39JSXV0-1_ZoWRp1I9aPYab4P7ar-SlCwOXiBRc6NKhHM659va423qYG2thc9mpY_9B8LRyMnhiKNSavsfZQ3y9lWINbQlAwTiOmNHQA/s2016/IMG_3858.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGdgWF6hwANsXw_HoSGrFTN_xzVNFYX_STiZ-_jDJBNOn1KK-kU0f3nwjFh-LMEdp-HTpP-8Gwff9eTOQOIMG39JSXV0-1_ZoWRp1I9aPYab4P7ar-SlCwOXiBRc6NKhHM659va423qYG2thc9mpY_9B8LRyMnhiKNSavsfZQ3y9lWINbQlAwTiOmNHQA/w480-h640/IMG_3858.jpg" width="480" /></a>The back yard. However, know that I am one happy camper. Even when I feel like my nuts are in the vise of consumer driven white trash western world corporate driven slavery. Yes, that money system I bitch about is the same that I use to buy race car parts, put fuel in my van, and honestly keep the family food on the table. All hail the system! Seeing Sideburn Magazine go away brings about a dreary feeling of despaire. And more than just for my own selfish reasons. The print magazines are disappering like a plate of cookies at a High Times party. I expect to stop being offered Racer X, Motocross Action, and even the awful DIRT BIKE issues, any month could be the last but somehow I took Sideburn for granted and never thought the outspoken weirdo becan would cease. But when Ben left it did become more corporate and less punk rock. When I saw it badged as the official Magazine of American Flattrack, I should have known that there were expectations creeping in the shadows. Anyhoo, It sure has been great to meet Gary back in Vegas at my first real flattrack race. The people I have met in the Sideburn network have provided me with many lifetimes worth of experiences. Everything changes. Everything dies. But not everything lives so live it up!!!<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnK-Db7yMaOZrdT2gQKKBZ9iaBmfOpf_g5sNvDEyij36e5uOPn-3vsQ7FciUAN8bEcPEK7Edg7eiFrRCavZm56tAkDwRSkF9k8YA77ToQFyrPgwRbjote1dHMJNvgGfEWBii80KZkmZaWuQoHMKu8_QGbuuZGTO3v8VBnQwN7k759DlSSrny3CZjDX82s/s2016/IMG_3736.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnK-Db7yMaOZrdT2gQKKBZ9iaBmfOpf_g5sNvDEyij36e5uOPn-3vsQ7FciUAN8bEcPEK7Edg7eiFrRCavZm56tAkDwRSkF9k8YA77ToQFyrPgwRbjote1dHMJNvgGfEWBii80KZkmZaWuQoHMKu8_QGbuuZGTO3v8VBnQwN7k759DlSSrny3CZjDX82s/s600/IMG_3736.jpg" /></a></div>I try not to take an of it for granted. <div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivFtY6FuiWs6XGhUelDutcbbrbSwddgFXYD2A-8dwm0DCADSACZVxsAlfGGLclO_VLMjgYkPkS1T57s2p8vgN9bCV39E-5rJLusVbKFyq3nXy8Ml1krMpIpdb47Xb7ksJPRSq2ZiFw-uuue6mYi9GkUKi3M9Z85Gcs0NeQzD6En62pOiHgXhVGNPjtulA/s2016/IMG_3737.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivFtY6FuiWs6XGhUelDutcbbrbSwddgFXYD2A-8dwm0DCADSACZVxsAlfGGLclO_VLMjgYkPkS1T57s2p8vgN9bCV39E-5rJLusVbKFyq3nXy8Ml1krMpIpdb47Xb7ksJPRSq2ZiFw-uuue6mYi9GkUKi3M9Z85Gcs0NeQzD6En62pOiHgXhVGNPjtulA/s600/IMG_3737.jpg" /></a></div>-H.S.T<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLrf8kxq0oTnGWj2RxdoYtbOqYxpAQbNlj_Znd6_DnHxIBan0TXd8FVRPOjl74QIIIteJds47cPcEW8Ax29imcfwFOSTGnzNChvV07g6sCfvlZMahv5KgzZKH5GTFFfJFcnTLgpvYyH-OMkmrj5E1nXlhZmBpt4M4azjdUA7jh0g6doTe52smy5AoWqJ4/s2016/IMG_3741.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLrf8kxq0oTnGWj2RxdoYtbOqYxpAQbNlj_Znd6_DnHxIBan0TXd8FVRPOjl74QIIIteJds47cPcEW8Ax29imcfwFOSTGnzNChvV07g6sCfvlZMahv5KgzZKH5GTFFfJFcnTLgpvYyH-OMkmrj5E1nXlhZmBpt4M4azjdUA7jh0g6doTe52smy5AoWqJ4/s600/IMG_3741.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTGTyZdGxnyTi57wvu-MdjYuWf4aJYi58VBq7yTII_071GlWbv9C3Fm2_AW0FsiRiVuAtkqgBLpgwv2RoOp0n-0vzTBU-tppwYeUFMl_Hm4nJeokhYqUI1ahKp2HH42Aa9UXmWrMwxvqC1GNW62hVAFEOKxA4_a5uKDokiwW1uLp5Pd5csrawLzAUvceA/s2016/IMG_3765.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTGTyZdGxnyTi57wvu-MdjYuWf4aJYi58VBq7yTII_071GlWbv9C3Fm2_AW0FsiRiVuAtkqgBLpgwv2RoOp0n-0vzTBU-tppwYeUFMl_Hm4nJeokhYqUI1ahKp2HH42Aa9UXmWrMwxvqC1GNW62hVAFEOKxA4_a5uKDokiwW1uLp5Pd5csrawLzAUvceA/s600/IMG_3765.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV2yg0BIz62U3JJuMBdMdzh9KqHgnRyZgOIH0InDMfjY673x5YYMhXchHkqIaFfkO3AMACSaDBRjs_sclswzGklIjugee_TlFv5V1P4OmnInGEecSdpRco-F8GgHIV03waBAGotoIDZM9b_IvsMiBEgETIUM9lkWsY_R5zQU6eN4zRW2xttYzK3IHh7dU/s2016/IMG_3769.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV2yg0BIz62U3JJuMBdMdzh9KqHgnRyZgOIH0InDMfjY673x5YYMhXchHkqIaFfkO3AMACSaDBRjs_sclswzGklIjugee_TlFv5V1P4OmnInGEecSdpRco-F8GgHIV03waBAGotoIDZM9b_IvsMiBEgETIUM9lkWsY_R5zQU6eN4zRW2xttYzK3IHh7dU/s600/IMG_3769.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYrHureEetJiXPU8D4WqjiPrwUo_KsRkfZd0LreG4uIiWEf6am0eU0Y4EUjYAvr3jPFJxN5EeYxWt_ApbmCDeaJBDzKnVEFYKfhI66E3tYU3S729zqFi56I4GASSxqmcoutQ7_5SM99xbOpO_ijCwvizH1MThYMYfAPOyIkef4Ybfe5Q4eH_501IDi-Ug/s2016/IMG_3763.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="1512" data-original-width="2016" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYrHureEetJiXPU8D4WqjiPrwUo_KsRkfZd0LreG4uIiWEf6am0eU0Y4EUjYAvr3jPFJxN5EeYxWt_ApbmCDeaJBDzKnVEFYKfhI66E3tYU3S729zqFi56I4GASSxqmcoutQ7_5SM99xbOpO_ijCwvizH1MThYMYfAPOyIkef4Ybfe5Q4eH_501IDi-Ug/s600/IMG_3763.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>I got the Hayabusa race car build off the bench and it is pretty fucking insane. Much to my delight it seems to handle well and everything operates as intended. On hard pack dirt it accelerates hard like a Hayabusa does. That kind of hard hitting acceleration that dumps your guts deep into the seat and eyelids peel back with tense focus, hands gripping the controls with deft true life or death action!<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiel-fi30lxP9DRtVQFSLpkNN7kbziv5GieGl4FTXTcV-mCdQGtx3xCtTC52qz4_VTBoXz-Zkx2KF71cnEYpCA7oWG5lKqYk0D2A0UARrmHPZybC4hmsNj0jRaSUqgYBxa-4iQnYoyJl1v2B-q1xuZUrniPFz0Qlw9vJsAoizXFoAolomDSZJxC6ifhkYE/s2016/IMG_3779.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiel-fi30lxP9DRtVQFSLpkNN7kbziv5GieGl4FTXTcV-mCdQGtx3xCtTC52qz4_VTBoXz-Zkx2KF71cnEYpCA7oWG5lKqYk0D2A0UARrmHPZybC4hmsNj0jRaSUqgYBxa-4iQnYoyJl1v2B-q1xuZUrniPFz0Qlw9vJsAoizXFoAolomDSZJxC6ifhkYE/s600/IMG_3779.jpg" /></a></div> Last week I wrapped up work on a project I am proud to have followed through with. I built a wide ratio transmission for my 1995 CR250 with 03-07 CR250 shafts and a wide ratio gear set made for 02-08 CRF450. It was uncharted territory so I took a big gamble on buying the needed bits. I had to chuck up the main and counter shaft in my lathe and working the hardened steel was not a cake walk. Getting it all together and having it shift through the gears put a big smile on my face. The bike has been apart since Gary sunk it last May Day. I am ready to get back on the two stroker and slay some single track.747http://www.blogger.com/profile/07625998732258844649noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319620728243255665.post-41982858327647369812023-10-24T19:59:00.001-06:002023-10-24T19:59:12.615-06:00Sideburn Nepal trip 2023I got to go ride a motorbike through the Nepal mountains and it was the trip of a lifetime!<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgq68zyEZb298w2oiSUhJSg5Q40uKc1VbV-odCkKoOlqjwr7QP-L7jyqG1-GPXR1i45QcqGjibp-BkD4N9SodSTZ9DpSoDpNgo1FdYjaLsSRDGWkTvd5_dQiQNgZVAVh5wqi5EJ3e1QE82sJDQjN6Xj9owYn1hyphenhyphenZWlttTyfNZbDZ-YjHLe0zV1xqggayaE/s4032/IMG_3431.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgq68zyEZb298w2oiSUhJSg5Q40uKc1VbV-odCkKoOlqjwr7QP-L7jyqG1-GPXR1i45QcqGjibp-BkD4N9SodSTZ9DpSoDpNgo1FdYjaLsSRDGWkTvd5_dQiQNgZVAVh5wqi5EJ3e1QE82sJDQjN6Xj9owYn1hyphenhyphenZWlttTyfNZbDZ-YjHLe0zV1xqggayaE/s600/IMG_3431.jpg"/></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyu9nfd6-a56M1gp9URfrPaB9i9R2Ryn2UpXew4TeOOMnMmGdNUO0Zyz6Wmh-AEjhKYgSMOeGJj2ALJEg180ub3r2EjxVgDJfLgR2R0iu1U_-LZ1GvCak33kKClIotWs2eBkgP4_Z5GT1Dbji8Er9iXbq3HsnoNv2BRBZE_DUGpjuM1_4d3xjT24UZxnM/s4032/IMG_3432.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyu9nfd6-a56M1gp9URfrPaB9i9R2Ryn2UpXew4TeOOMnMmGdNUO0Zyz6Wmh-AEjhKYgSMOeGJj2ALJEg180ub3r2EjxVgDJfLgR2R0iu1U_-LZ1GvCak33kKClIotWs2eBkgP4_Z5GT1Dbji8Er9iXbq3HsnoNv2BRBZE_DUGpjuM1_4d3xjT24UZxnM/s600/IMG_3432.jpg"/></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwKSLWl83p_3kaRJdUbfOGZrVR4dro9f_fRJD7PaEhVzcdc_8yvYUR5W0bo0lqFih5xpixzmlnO3Q0BZZJ947w5H7PKvqCZWOnhfm35W32NtH31qOwzL7R-a1dSmXJRrx6XpJh0qZZrMmxfSjlLW3cbdsMLA2-Cv9hF-PsTYd13wbXSObWIBEr_tI1biU/s4032/IMG_3496.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" height="600" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwKSLWl83p_3kaRJdUbfOGZrVR4dro9f_fRJD7PaEhVzcdc_8yvYUR5W0bo0lqFih5xpixzmlnO3Q0BZZJ947w5H7PKvqCZWOnhfm35W32NtH31qOwzL7R-a1dSmXJRrx6XpJh0qZZrMmxfSjlLW3cbdsMLA2-Cv9hF-PsTYd13wbXSObWIBEr_tI1biU/s600/IMG_3496.jpg"/></a></div>

The drive to race strong as always. The championship already wrapped up by somebody other than me for the 2nd year in a row. Whatever the truckstop had pineapple and Wonderbread; all I needed to accommodate my only packed ration. In SPAM we trust.
The mornings camped right below tree line were cold enough to make Layla dog climb in my sleeping bag. The racing was the first good racing of the season. With 10 motorbike entrants over the 3 or 4 all year and a Brady brother getting back on his bike after a few years away was nipping seconds behind me every run. And the solid old 2nd place finisher to me at all the other races of the year (Except the one I missed) finished 4th. So if not for the attendance points paid (green flag points they call them), I could... have ... would... whatever. Two seasons in a row of not being the bike champion will not kill me off and it is nice to share some love since I think I have won damn near every bike championship since they started allowing bikes in 2014. Ol Lord Mick raced his first race after a major knee/ femur surgery last winter to correct years and years of being a totally devoted and huge huck loving committed shredder of gnar. And all I can take away from all of this is that I love doing what I do. I love going stupid fast on roads that most people are to afraid to drive at all. I love sharing what I love with a few good blokes. And I still have no shame in my love for SPAM. SPAM light is actually my top shelf.
P.S. the pictures of race car wings are another topic of discussion to follow. Mabey after I serve my duty as SIDEBURN ambassador for next weeks Nepal adventure. physical therepy appointments, the sunday morning solo shred sessions and the

old punk rocker becoming a washed up old motorbike racer. Like an onry mule, I
refuse to carry this burden. Whip me, sinch me, tie me up and have a go at
breaking me, father time you cursed ever stable devil. I won't stand for it. Not
as long as I have my desire. A desire I can't even begin to understand or
really even care to. All I know is the doing of it feels good so do it I shal.

individual be created by the dream. I am just a simple dude with a desire to race shit

Brady Dimick asked me if I would race his dwarf car. I knew better but after thinking about the oppertunity I said sure, why not. After he told me the clutch and brake pedal were reversed and about a dozen or so other important things about how to safely opperate his car, like how it turns left when accelerating and hard right when de-accelerating I climbed right in, Well akwardly sqeezed in, just barely able to fit. Right before I went to the start line he said, "look I mind as well just tell you: the frame is bent and the rear end has over an inch of tow out..." I drag it inside and get it up in the air to find a plethora or broken, bent, and worn shit that needs fixed. Almost every suspension and steering component is fuct. Victom of a few ditch surfing incedints over the past couple of years. After a week of hammering shit back into shape and using floor jacks chained to roll cage points to re-index the crazy german engineered torsion springs I am sitting in the cacoon at the starting line of this countire's 3rd oldest car race behing the Indy 500 and Pikes Peak. I make a clean run and am glad that I have not forgoten how to drive the 60 year old car. I remember to not let my foot flop under neath the go pedal when I am heal toeing it on down shifts as the pedal has only gravity holding it down against the crude roler atached to a throttle cable I made from scratch. Still working. 3 years after creating my Frankenstien. My first race car. By the end of the weekend we are putting in respectable times behind a Porsche GT3 factory rally car and a stage rally BMW. Come sunday my last race run has me pushing too hard, I cook it hot into a hair pin or two, jabbing at my e-brake handle like a falling ice climber hoping his axe can stop a freefall of certain splatter. In the popular Bob's Knob corner I make spectators dive like chipmunks crossing the highway. And then as I shift into 3rd gear I find a bonus nuetral. 3rd gear has left the party. A $100 lottery transmission I pulled out of a dirty shed 3 years ago has done real well. No complaints. As I limp it back down to the pits the smell of burning engine oil is strong. I slow at my pit and am engulfed in a smoke cloud. The piston rings have also left the party. Well. The 160K mile subaru engine has also done me real good. I payed $400 for the car it came out of and sold the car for $500 after I pulled out the engine. No complaints at all. The end of the last run. 3rd place in the Rally 2wd class. Not bad. And in the Motorcycle class I bagged another win. I think that is number six now at land's end. Pretty un-eventful other than a buck deer crossing my path in practice but that is hill climbing in the Rocky Mountains...<iframe class="BLOG_video_class" allowfullscreen="" youtube-src-id="yB09q-fzhKo" width="400" height="322" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/yB09q-fzhKo"></iframe><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-cP7G6ijaGJ8aDq0gmbeWymnO4GWLiy-DbM7YCnh09t7esxvox3AyOLLwNHpqUflB2MAu64e3BFSYrrOmqtuIybbVCXakPSTy6MKjlXjtipoNKmpMwnDI9h0zvSdkgV55wUA7s7bCjyE3IaYen6mOUr-pacnC2mLJyBXa4f84P26BaDZv2N2-_sSDOqI/s2048/Lands%20End%202023%202.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-cP7G6ijaGJ8aDq0gmbeWymnO4GWLiy-DbM7YCnh09t7esxvox3AyOLLwNHpqUflB2MAu64e3BFSYrrOmqtuIybbVCXakPSTy6MKjlXjtipoNKmpMwnDI9h0zvSdkgV55wUA7s7bCjyE3IaYen6mOUr-pacnC2mLJyBXa4f84P26BaDZv2N2-_sSDOqI/s600/Lands%20End%202023%202.jpg"/></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI0VCfaEiQ7Cd6MH0DrbbUtQvjQ4PKEdA_qNxRHKjoXt8g67mAnumREFEpFhFQ5f0Ow3vACINUorRK-0tig4NRQ-_9iluOzyJWqxO0f15q0lge-y1zsUom37HvAS40TXk-tipIpjyzLYlNAPe6CYMOGUpXpkWcFu3HLh8zfpH8TBjTibOvouRcx3R_pKo/s2048/Lands%20End%202023%203.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI0VCfaEiQ7Cd6MH0DrbbUtQvjQ4PKEdA_qNxRHKjoXt8g67mAnumREFEpFhFQ5f0Ow3vACINUorRK-0tig4NRQ-_9iluOzyJWqxO0f15q0lge-y1zsUom37HvAS40TXk-tipIpjyzLYlNAPe6CYMOGUpXpkWcFu3HLh8zfpH8TBjTibOvouRcx3R_pKo/s600/Lands%20End%202023%203.jpg"/></a></div>747http://www.blogger.com/profile/07625998732258844649noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319620728243255665.post-91973144057065623462023-07-20T20:50:00.001-06:002023-07-20T20:50:29.161-06:00FocusTo be racing is to always be chassing. Some dogs lay, some dogs chase. I have an insacious hunger to chase. A child of the 80's, a teen of the 90's. BMX bikes, Beasty Boys, and X-games. Draged away out to the rural life at 12. Traded in my bus pass for a 80cc two stroke dirtbike and never had a fair chance. An ignorant freedumb. A punk rock rebel with a mohawk feeding cows and fixing fence. Hand cuffed and stuffed too many times but I got my diploma. Just barrely. Punk rock turned into wasting more brain cells than I could afford. I turned to the dirtbike and it turned me to the world. Hard work rewards a privateer. I have called my self boss now for over a decade. But I am still racing. Still chassing.<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4XiOmVkGobRbjQGXjgzdhQ2uHRc7DtkawCUJv-PhVROo0fizUrZxhYwyg_qJONUJpp9-dHKc9BRMVu7vWl8UTydInF5eWaSZg5zeLQae-Lo_QOLTKvilZlMEjedGmCET1KZ8Ktp6tZheHD37xD1pklzhYnURLOAmxtk_-73qIDFhYuOU1x297My4w-wk/s4032/IMG_2437.jpg" style="display: block; I high sided my XR650 at Land's End two years ago coming out of a slow hair pin. I don't talk about it to many people but I did lay my SV down in practice at Pikes Peak but it was also a slow no harm lowside. The first year I raced Pikes I did the same during my race run up top in the gravel. I think during all of those I managed to keep at least one hand on the bars so I don't really count them as an actual crash. Last sunday, I crashed. It is getting hard to find roads we are allowed to race on so the club had a Hill Climb on basacilly a big fast autocross track at PPIR Speedway south of the big ol peak that is Pikes Peak. I arrived late after the 6 hr drive as I had to wait for mom to get home from work to take over taking care of little one. She had been home sick with me in the shop all week. No complaints! Quality time at it's finest. Even with a bout of Hand, Foot, And Mouth Disiase. Sure enough my throat started to feel sore Friday evening. I awoke saturday to sores on my toung, inside my throat and nostrals and worst of all on my feet and finger tips. It felt like I was welding slag steel naked. Saturday practice sessions were very wet and suited a motocross bike very well, I was running times fast as the few fastest cars. I think I had the fastest time all morning actually but as the track dried out and I began to feel more and more shit my times stayed the same and even began to slow by Sunday's race runs. My first race run was still 20 seconds faster than any other motorbikes so I secured the win but at the cost of what felt like whiplash in my neck. The kiddy daycare virus was taking a strong hold on me and in my 2nd race run it smacked me down like Mike Tyson. I was struggling keeping my front tire traction and took a high dicey line for some wideopen throttle surfing. My front wheel found a hidden big rock and I instantly gave into the high speed crash. My ol race leathers saved my ass, like a super hero's outfit, that chunk of cow hide is amazing. My bike got pretty banged up with a little ding on the rim, bent handlebars, and a holed stator cover. I like to think of it as paying dues. I watch my daughter learning and quickly evolving. It also makes me realize that as I get older I am going to have to constantly re-calibrate the relation of the gap betweeen my desires and my ablities...<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='400' height='322' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dz-jVaYMAJpokRuDkKiZnGxqIQiFfpezgVsJaY_uNbkK1F9_yBWOOV5YHKJVfZ7WIRm7IXUWYS9DkY0A5E-Cg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe>747http://www.blogger.com/profile/07625998732258844649noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319620728243255665.post-65716945741465866052023-07-03T14:48:00.001-06:002023-07-03T14:48:25.020-06:00Superbikers 1984 wide world of sports<iframe style="background-image:url(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/8hMD0NOsRJY/hqdefault.jpg)" width="480" height="360" src="https://youtube.com/embed/8hMD0NOsRJY" frameborder="0"></iframe>I know I have posted some of these before but I still can't get enough of it. Most racers are to some degree in my opinion at minimum a bit self centered. At least I know that for me to focus on racing successfully I must spend a lot of time inside my own head figuring it all out. Sometimes I try too hard to figure shit out and it end ups making no sense. Like trying harder to grab a hold of a slippery fish. The more I try to find meaning of the AMA Flat Track Amateur Grand Championship the more I find nothing other than just simple good times. This was the first time in a long time that I teamed up with others instead of my usual simple solo missions. The team for this effort was the meaning of it all. The lone two smoker made a lot friends especially with all the dads. I did not have a baseline to use with the old Yamaha's suspension, it was ok but fork damping was a bit fast and spring rates were off. That and how fast modern 250 four strokes are along with a stacked field of young talent in the 250 Production class made it a real challenge to qualify but when we did it in the TT and the Short track it was so sweet. On my bikes we ended up 4th overall in the VET 40 plus class with a couple of 3rds in the TT and Short Track which felt like a good pat on the back for not having my hot shoe on for 5 years. All in all it was a pretty damn good time. 12 days on the road. A solid crew with Lambrick Brothers and Jeffery Carver. Will I train and go back next year with a more dialed in ol 1989 YZ250....?<br /></div><br />747http://www.blogger.com/profile/07625998732258844649noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319620728243255665.post-54680188467630468992023-06-09T20:52:00.000-06:002023-06-09T20:52:12.321-06:00Go time <p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxA3-41YStAvsTqwQKpge2agXpqtyBNEOi-MB4caPe4JPP-wxxeDZVd3iLWQYyqTzCGkn5Mk2Em7Ag91Ws7JA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>Jeffery Carver shaking down the race bike. The birds are singing louder than the whine of the passing 18 wheelers as drizzled rain drops pitter patter out a soothing rhythm on my roof. Tomorrow I’ll visit the Late Great Cosmic Cowboys ol pad, maybe unload the 500 and do a donut in his front yard, leave a Hot Wheels toy as an offering and go stay with the Pottorf’s, friends Cowboy introduced me to. Young Pottorf is contesting some of the AMA pro flattrack series this year. Maybe spin some laps on their private test track before heading out to Carver’s place for some Wizard sessions. But I figured he better come shoot some pictures of this thing before I wreck it or it wrecks me. I started building this thing almost two years ago. I am getting slower and older but perhaps no wiser. Wallace showed up at the shop 1.5 hrs before sunset. We took some glamour shots in my shop with the bike up on a lift, on the floor from a ladder and out in my junk yard then loaded it up and went to an industrial fuel refinery down the road. The place was locked up tighter than a nun's volvo wagon but the train yard seemed a good enough background. I went to load the bike back into the van and a sudden burst of spontaneous mischief over took me and I threw a leg over the bike doubting I could start it without a riding boot on but I must be making friends with the half liter skeeter eater because it fired up echoing off the train cars like a tortured dragon. Before Wallace could get his camera set for action I was dragging pipe and sliding the beast. It was a blast. With only minutes to spare before sunset we loaded back up and headed to the other end of my little town for a rare backdrop of the elusive desert flowers. Seeing this bike come together finally means a lot to me. Ol Cosmic Cowboy me dear late friend brought this frame into my shop with the plan that we would do something cool with it. I think I will put some of his ashes in the fuel tank and continue raising some hell with it :)<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDYeXaJCwxweGDuunNKu6WY5KuCFBFdj44debCwxmkUxLyoJHzJ8ojlfHOxPlJJ6_cmCjEijdWL2bXl9uYZBrVRSgKNMUk2FiEJZNgfX1jHjx2yz14R5XIioMNABmRKR1XKHIEGaE0YohHEgfgt0dpviBnsbW7DnGtW_8OyROBW9hzrTf8dhhISY_n/s4032/IMG_2094.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDYeXaJCwxweGDuunNKu6WY5KuCFBFdj44debCwxmkUxLyoJHzJ8ojlfHOxPlJJ6_cmCjEijdWL2bXl9uYZBrVRSgKNMUk2FiEJZNgfX1jHjx2yz14R5XIioMNABmRKR1XKHIEGaE0YohHEgfgt0dpviBnsbW7DnGtW_8OyROBW9hzrTf8dhhISY_n/w640-h480/IMG_2094.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuxuQqqm0AIH9JBmWfgFyrl94gI80DPnHhrmiTcIgqtXB9ft5CKCHBBrb0klrVuAQVLWE6GjVKfjvUW_JAX1gQQ708Le-Ux56q2_QxC4yd1OYeK6tWtjMGd43pxEyvILFQoOBYwfkxWurIkIBB_mtGxbjhADquH9OEOmoXHLgj2RRIKSi8icfRpKVv/s1600/image000001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="884" data-original-width="1600" height="354" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuxuQqqm0AIH9JBmWfgFyrl94gI80DPnHhrmiTcIgqtXB9ft5CKCHBBrb0klrVuAQVLWE6GjVKfjvUW_JAX1gQQ708Le-Ux56q2_QxC4yd1OYeK6tWtjMGd43pxEyvILFQoOBYwfkxWurIkIBB_mtGxbjhADquH9OEOmoXHLgj2RRIKSi8icfRpKVv/w640-h354/image000001.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTZkoMMmgQS7OxKbzqNjVPDjJGwhB_MxeQnQ8aecHkshCqKX0EZ772qKq6ES-1m4zJ4fK4h0MeDJ60P1DrC5AI97jFoHJYr3KeDi9Kceznya5h7X8o57VOoXL4_MwGzSN2bGnkXhNIx2U-_rmpjsffWj4wnJJ-TpMW-deJM4EUpjqJhdBUIW54yjlk/s1600/image000000.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1129" data-original-width="1600" height="452" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTZkoMMmgQS7OxKbzqNjVPDjJGwhB_MxeQnQ8aecHkshCqKX0EZ772qKq6ES-1m4zJ4fK4h0MeDJ60P1DrC5AI97jFoHJYr3KeDi9Kceznya5h7X8o57VOoXL4_MwGzSN2bGnkXhNIx2U-_rmpjsffWj4wnJJ-TpMW-deJM4EUpjqJhdBUIW54yjlk/w640-h452/image000000.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /> <p></p>747http://www.blogger.com/profile/07625998732258844649noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319620728243255665.post-48181576872085426632023-05-18T14:29:00.000-06:002023-05-18T14:29:16.173-06:00'Tis the season<p> The green leaves are all blossomed out like a flood of big beautiful green boobies bouncing about in a busy strip club. Finally a cloak of shelter and privacy from the neighbors allowing freedom to pee outside at will. The birds are singing like a 480 piece choir from the academy no fucks given tourettes syndrom blasting their songs at 4:45 in the morning loud enough to wake up Helen Keller. The afternoon temp is enough for me to climb up on the roof, burning my knees and palms of my hands in the process to resurrect the ol swamp cooler. All this can mean only one thing.... IT IS TIME TO GO RACING!!!!<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUt9ic14DgrDCroIBccVLdtDeZo86SGqRhYxMC52UB7vkfE7QNDWb41JEqa6FfslJ1HvnuQSQbz_rWaWtl_7SuRL0FBUGibGeCh8bdx9CInF1sGmbQIPAQy0PK5mfJSzCMearlP5J6NTVJ0MtlnAPuXHvwQCrG3MRcXyXmRNZScOmVf_JVSuLCh-Ek/s1280/IMG_2070.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; I am just as mystified as the rest but I myself believe in what most call manifest destiny. Life is full of crazy emotions, commercial brainwashing, and negative influence but I think at the end of the day we can only control so much of it and one thing we do actually have control over is how we feel. I have learned from my mom that by keeping a positive attitude, good things will attract like a magnet. It is like nature's way of keeping balance. But nature gives and takes and the more you have to give the more it can take. A loss is a hard thing to not feel bad about but we can only grow from every experience and choose how we feel about it when it is all said and done. I have tried to learn from every fail, every regret, every experience and build something from those that I felt the most strong. I reckon passion is like gas on a fire, and the more our internal burning flame grows the more fuel we can consume, fuel being the dream. But instead of burning it down we let that fucking flame rage. But I don't want my ego to consume like a forest fire; Some Evel Knievel heart throb idle hot shot racer. I just want to do what I dig and I really dig going fast. Really fast. I admit that I have more than a few passionate projects burning but they all keep me sane, somehow focused on something so that everything doesn't just drift away like dreams as we awake. Any day could be anyone's last so mind as well enjoy every day. And everything that brings joy, especially those wicked wheels.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxp-PwROkDgd9pDZrIJFrrIOJWkkX2gb3dQe03pHQfMiYLpY_mNaJhM9gzjanY9mOrRhPPrpoVWwDqIff1bOA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe>About two weeks away from the first Hill Climb of the season. The Stock Car has sat untouched since the last race of the season over six months ago... I reckon I better get to it. Oh yeah and figure out what bike to race. They are all in need of a lot of attention. A lot of passion, a lot of burning, and the dream shall rage :)</div><br /><p></p>747http://www.blogger.com/profile/07625998732258844649noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1319620728243255665.post-58778452833269798302023-04-21T22:33:00.004-06:002023-04-21T22:33:41.463-06:00Uncle Reemus update via Zappa<p> It feels like the world spins too fast sometimes.</p><p>I get lost in the internet's web like a fawn in a barb wire fence factory surrounded by busy highways, freeways, train tracks and streets and then I fall into a worm hole of warmth and seclusion of my own making. Like today when I did my once every few years vanity search of my own name and pikes peak. After watching a few youtubes, some making me smile and almost tear up and others making me chew at my own lip with anxiety, I remembered that after all nothing has ever been, ever is, and ever will be only but what we make it to be. Simple as it may be I best just get back to work. So what have I been working on lately? Nova and I have been resurrecting an old Z50 we dug out of a friend's back yard. I try not to influence her desires and passions but I can see it is futile. She is surrounded by them and at 1 1/2 years of age she lays in her bed at night and repeats "Derwt bikes, Derwt bikes". Call it genetics, hopeless disposition, or just the universe dealing out fate in a drunkin bastard's bowling game. All I know is she likes this bike and thinks it is cool every time we put another piece of it together. Two days a week plus weekends we rule the shop together. When she naps I get back to the endless amount of customer's with paying work. Work I am so thankful for and still enjoy doing after 20 years of it. And work I probably owe some to my racing success. After dinner and my little one is put to bed I go back out to the shop when I am not to run down form the endless brought home daycare illness or the mental and physical pain brought on from my weekly therapy sessions to avoid a premature hip surgery. I chip away at the Hayabusa powered hill climb race car I am building from scratch. I bit off a lot to chew but I am chewing away like a laughy taffy stuck between my teeth and making my belly ache as I avoid the teary eyed laughing. Did you know a proper oil sump system for this rage cage project will double my cost so far?! And then we get back to the last big project I started over two years ago. The KX500 Trackmaster. I let it gather some dust like a bottle of fine fucked up wine more than a few times during last years shop move but I have been chipping away at it a little sip at a time almost trying to savor the project the old late great Tommy's Triumph Shop bestowed upon me. I'd like to think my old dear friend Tommy reached down from the Cosmos and slapped my shaking backside when this half liter skeeter eater hit the powerband on the highway in front of my shop last week. It pulls like a skidder and sounds like a steam train wrecking. It makes enough power to blush Babe the blue ox and when it hits high rpm my arms shake like Michael J Fox. What did I expect when I built this Frankenstein. A true Mel Brooks Abby Normal Frankenstein beloved beautiful beast capable of destroying, dismembering and disemboweling all of us. So do I take it to Davenport this June? ... I am scared. Like the Cookie Monster. Or a squirrel. Just out to get a nut...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYvsvHzd6eYIZCxCDgkSvSZLWvrpdzeoi0Dh9DPGlVdhXsKAbWKHTjEeOiXc7W_RD_4Lrl0asVr3fisJmdVe0FI2v1RYF4bpUmMPNkMAZby00mM2Rp_g_Nxnwj7EDUi28Lpz7Pw2M3QkIeLTHX5CJ__wO70PhMKbRbYL_mRedFKlfVDkRRQh1fHUNt/s2016/IMG_1842.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYvsvHzd6eYIZCxCDgkSvSZLWvrpdzeoi0Dh9DPGlVdhXsKAbWKHTjEeOiXc7W_RD_4Lrl0asVr3fisJmdVe0FI2v1RYF4bpUmMPNkMAZby00mM2Rp_g_Nxnwj7EDUi28Lpz7Pw2M3QkIeLTHX5CJ__wO70PhMKbRbYL_mRedFKlfVDkRRQh1fHUNt/w480-h640/IMG_1842.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEqUdFKrZgcxOjV6ooYjfMwu7G4Qvre0wizt0wKAAJ1oEymYVFxHCTRgOMUoLLIXUyuCBZuKnQOYaoB1iQcxnbTLfWFPjdapIXkbZeM86Xq_sI6thnD9uMUg8m4U2kSc-651Yjqa0LR9goXSTKeoBMOrqwOPPo46iIXI_edtqwt-EESSHrenwchrTv/s2016/70361461748__7DFD57DF-3220-44AF-9940-BD64B012E25D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEqUdFKrZgcxOjV6ooYjfMwu7G4Qvre0wizt0wKAAJ1oEymYVFxHCTRgOMUoLLIXUyuCBZuKnQOYaoB1iQcxnbTLfWFPjdapIXkbZeM86Xq_sI6thnD9uMUg8m4U2kSc-651Yjqa0LR9goXSTKeoBMOrqwOPPo46iIXI_edtqwt-EESSHrenwchrTv/w480-h640/70361461748__7DFD57DF-3220-44AF-9940-BD64B012E25D.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHHHkb6nQilHZQxWBLIVwk2EQWxsgwU5bPQq-ty8ZB5PTMzj3NtfOC_bg-E6URV5RRhJdhdJiTJuMQsYQOVXXoYPzb_B56vi8C3EmH3DmpjnWRRpVByRY7V3Sfn9mnXFHEK2lqu7to5_T1LgwRHwTdCWsEtNl7RDW9SEL5FnhWQSLkQrttJhGx9tAe/s2016/IMG_1805.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHHHkb6nQilHZQxWBLIVwk2EQWxsgwU5bPQq-ty8ZB5PTMzj3NtfOC_bg-E6URV5RRhJdhdJiTJuMQsYQOVXXoYPzb_B56vi8C3EmH3DmpjnWRRpVByRY7V3Sfn9mnXFHEK2lqu7to5_T1LgwRHwTdCWsEtNl7RDW9SEL5FnhWQSLkQrttJhGx9tAe/w480-h640/IMG_1805.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br /><p></p>747http://www.blogger.com/profile/07625998732258844649noreply@blogger.com0
